United Water Restoration Group (UWRG), the restoration and reconstruction franchise with 95 units across the nation, is coming to the rescue after severe weather ripped through South Carolina last week.

Heavy rain caused excessive flooding in York County, South Carolina, and one Fort Mill family found their basement flooded shortly after taking note of the heavy rain.

“It happened pretty quick. I first checked it and sent a video to everybody in the family just showing a little bit of water on the floor outside underneath the deck,” Ken Vining told Queen City News. “And then within 10 minutes, it was two or three inches. And by the time I was able to get around the house, get downstairs, it was just shy of my knee.” 

After the flooding slowed, the basement was left with about an inch and a half of accumulated water. The family laid down towels to begin soaking up some of the moisture, and their local UWRG came to the rescue within about three hours.

Thanks to the family’s forethought during construction and UWRG’s quick response, recovery from the flood will be more attainable and affordable.

“I think we’re pretty blessed and lucky in that having concrete floors, having rubber floors in the fitness area has been sort of a saving grace in terms of having to replace stuff. Thankfully, all of our furniture was very quickly brought up onto Styrofoam cubes,” said Kristin Vining. “Our biggest project is going to be getting this backyard back in order.”
