United Water Restoration Group Closes Out First Half of 2023 Strong, Doubling Revenue Over Previous Year
The premier provider of restoration and reconstruction services had four new expansions in the first two quarters, working towards its goal of 25 new franchise owners in 2023.
United Water Restoration Group (UWRG), the 82-unit franchise brand that has provided premier restoration and reconstruction services for nearly 15 years, had an excellent start to 2023. During the first half of the year, the brand’s existing franchise owners nearly doubled their revenue from the previous year. The brand also sold four additional territories to franchise owners within the system who are eager to grow.
As UWRG looks to grow around the United States, its pipeline is filling up. In addition to the expansions from existing franchise owners, there was also a brand new signing.
“We have a lot of great prospects in the pipeline that we feel really good about going into the second half of the year,” said Bob Moore, President at UWRG. “I think the biggest news coming out of the first two quarters is the performance of our existing franchise owners. We've doubled our revenue in the first quarter compared to Q1 of last year. And that's continued into Q2.
To support the growth it has been seeing, UWRG made a key hire this year. For example, Shawn Jackson was named as Franchise Business Coach. As the number of franchise owners grows at the brand, Jackson will be instrumental in the franchise development and training process. With the addition of Jackson, UWRG Director of Operations Chrissy Gregory will also be able to turn more time and attention to creating a lot of innovative tools and systems at headquarters.
“Having Chrissy not on the road as much is going to allow us to really focus on people and build tools and systems that will add value to our franchise owners,” said Moore. “These tools will not only help our existing franchise owners get better, but also help us make our system more attractive to prospective franchise owners.”
Moore was also promoted from Vice President of Development & Operations to President after being with the company for over four years. The now part owner of the company has a diverse background in franchising. His career began with Domino’s Pizza, where he spent six years in various roles and an additional seven years as a multi-unit franchise owner. After his time at Domino's, Moore worked as a Regional Director for ServiceMaster Clean and dedicated 10 years to Dunkin’ Brands.
Meanwhile, UWRG introduced the Marketing Scorecard for franchise owners in the second quarter. Similar to the previously released Operational Scorecard, it will allow franchise owners to track their marketing efforts and show them the highlights, as well as where they could be improving.
“The feedback we got from franchise owners on the Operational Scorecard was great,” said Moore. “They have information at their fingertips that really helped them pay attention to their numbers. As a result, we saw an improvement in a lot of key areas.”
During the first half of 2023, UWRG also hosted its annual conference in New Orleans. During the conference, franchise owners had a chance to gather for networking, training and to hear from executives within the company. Moore noted that after last year’s conference, the brand saw a bump in sales and anticipates the same momentum to continue this year.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year, UWRG will continue to meet the growing demand for restoration services around the country. Every city in the U.S. experiences water, fire, mold or structural damage, so the brand’s owners can thrive anywhere. Current target markets include areas such as Philadelphia, California, Chicago, Baltimore and Washington D.C.
