Buffalo Wings & Rings Franchising Eyes Seguin, Texas for Expansion
Elevated sports restaurant franchise sees opportunity in city located on the Guadalupe River, just east of San Antonio

Seguin, an idyllic town in Texas houses a population of roughly 31,000 people and is the ideal market for growing elevated sports restaurant brand, Buffalo Wings & Rings. The franchise development team from Buffalo Wings & Rings continues to see opportunity throughout the Lone Star State due to the tremendous success of their 13 existing Texas locations.
Recently, the team met with representatives from Seguin at the ICSC show in Las Vegas where they had the opportunity to build a relationship with Joshua Schneuker who serves as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Seguin. Buffalo Wings & Rings already had familiarity with the city due to the fact that the company has a location in nearby New Braunfels, only 15 miles away. Schneuker’s expertise and knowledge of one of the oldest towns in Texas was valuable in helping the corporate team decide that it is time to introduce the Buffalo Wings & Rings concept to Seguin.
“Joshua was extremely helpful in sharing the history of Seguin with us and giving us a sense of the culture of the community. This historic area with main street charm is a great fit for the Buffalo Wings & Rings brand since we thrive in smaller rural markets and communities where population growth is projected. Buffalo Wings & Rings is a concept that not only attracts sports aficionados and fanatics, but anyone who may be a little wing-obsessed,” said Terri Bornhauser, Franchise Development Assistant for Buffalo Wings & Rings, who made the trip to Seguin along with Director of Franchise Development Dan Doulen
The current population of Seguin consists of students from Texas Lutheran University and young professionals with families who either work in town or commute to Austin and San Antonio. The average age for a Seguin resident is 36 years old. Geographically, Seguin makes sense for the growing brand with 13 locations across Texas. Apart from the New Braunfels restaurant, Buffalo Wings & Rings has a strong presence to the south along the Texas border in the Rio Grande Valley, a location north in Round Rock (just north of Austin) and a restaurant to the west in San Antonio.
“Seguin is the perfect market for Buffalo Wings & Rings. The concept is great for family outings, or for sports enthusiasts to catch an Astros, Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers, Spurs or Wings game. There isn’t an elevated sports restaurant like this in town, besides the usual chains, and mom and pop restaurants. It’s such an exciting time for the city of Seguin, we’re rapidly growing and expanding. Building permits are on the rise, new residential areas are expanding and we have a strong school and public parks system. Not to mention, Texas Lutheran University has a strong presence in town and students are always looking for a great place to eat chicken wings,” said Schneuker.
Schneuker also noted the population in Seguin is expected to reach 50,000 by 2030, and the area along State Highway 46 is rapidly growing with potential commercial real estate sites ideal for the Buffalo Wings & Rings brand.
“We have found success with motivated and community-oriented franchisees who open in towns and cities with the same makeup as Seguin,” said Doulen. “Meeting with Joshua and scouting the area, we feel like our model is a great investment for the right operator interested in bringing Buffalo Wings & Rings to town. We’re excited to talk to entrepreneurs who want to take the leap into business ownership or established businessmen or women who are looking to enhance their portfolio.”
