The chicken wing segment isn’t exactly untapped territory, yet Buffalo Wings & Rings has been able to not only operate, but thrive, in a crowded marketplace.

This begs the question: What is it that differentiates the brand from its competitors?

According to Buffalo Wings & Rings Director of Franchise Development Dan Doulen, it comes down to three key factors: How the brand treats guests, the food on its menu and the overall atmosphere of each location.

“We have a club-level sports experience where each customer is treated like a VIP,” Doulen said.

Anyone who’s ever been to a live sporting event knows there’s a world of difference between the general admission seating and the premium box seats. Every Buffalo Wings & Rings strives to provide guests with the latter experience, but without the exorbitant price tag.

The food Buffalo Wings & Rings serves is a natural extension of this philosophy.

“We have a chef-driven menu specializing in exciting flavors and heat level options,” Doulen said. “Our food is always fresh, never frozen.”

Even how the food is served separates the brand from its competition – you won’t find any paper plates or plastic silverware at a Buffalo Wings & Rings location. Real plates and silverware are par for the course, a small touch the brand believes makes a big difference.

However, the team knows a fancy plate doesn’t make a difference if the food sitting on it isn’t delicious. That’s why the brand has branched out from just wings to offer both fan favorites and more unique options. Whether you’re in the mood for spicy hot wings, fresh wraps, flavorful salads, savory quesadillas or even yummy gyros, Buffalo Wings & Rings has you covered.

Last, but certainly not least, is how the brand has separated itself in terms of ambiance.

“The wing segment is competitive, but we focus on the quality of the atmosphere,” Doulen said. “It’s not the average man-cave experience you get from the competition. It’s the kind of place where you can catch the game but feel comfortable bringing your family, not a dark sports bar.”

Guests can expect a bright, contemporary interior with 50 TVs showing their favorite sports teams. And while each space contains an open, roomy layout, there’s also a slight separation between the bar and family dining area.

In many ways, Buffalo Wings & Rings is the anti-sports bar. Dim, dingy surroundings, neon beer signs, low quality food and lousy service? The team at Buffalo Wings & Rings has positioned itself as the antidote.

“We have differentiated ourselves from the rest of the pack by providing better customer service, higher-quality food and an environment that welcomes contemporary families,” Doulen said.
