Buffalo Wings & Rings, an elevated sports restaurant franchise with 85-plus locations across the U.S., Canada and Europe, is heading south of the border with an 11-plus location signing in Mexico — a first for the Cincinnati-based chain.

Flaherty, who has been with the brand for 1.5 years, told The Cincinnati Business Courier that development will take place in the northern Mexico states of Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon and are all expected to be operating by 2027. The first location, which will be in Reynosa, is already under construction with an anticipated opening in October of this year.

Although these will be the first locations in Mexico, Flaherty said customers in the region are already familiar with the brand with nearby locations in McAllen, Hidalgo, Mission, Edinburgh and Brownsville.

“With a dozen stores in South Texas, we feel good about the saturation there,” Flaherty said. “There's great awareness of the brand already in North Mexico.”

Flaherty also said that the expansion anticipates bringing up to 660 jobs in the region. The new stores will also feature Buffalo Wings & Rings’ new G4 prototype model, which was designed pre-pandemic to optimize operational efficiency, convenience and accuracy in addition to featuring a valet pickup lane and a new POS system.
