Young Ones to Watch: Susan Schopp, Publisher for Neighborhood News

Susan Schopp is a publisher for Neighborhood News, a newsletter-based company that has highlighted the impact of franchising in over 20 years of publishing duties. Schopp is in constant contact with businesses in the San Antonio, Austin and Dallas metropolitan areas, and has developed unique franchising insights for over two decades with Neighborhood News through promotion and collaboration with premier franchising brands.

In an interview with 1851, Schopp detailed her initial insights into franchising and how both she and other franchising professionals have been able to thrive within the industry. She believes a successful franchising endeavor takes a spirit of “being persistent, being consistent, being reliable, and being there when you need to handle something.” Her insights describe franchising as an everyday pursuit of excellence, and how franchising brands in communities can take on the same hometown feel as a standard small business.

Schopp explained how momentum is paramount in the industry, and forward-thinking will help the most successful franchisees gain traction in a constantly changing landscape. “Anybody of any age — it doesn’t matter if you’re in your 20’s or your 70’s — if there’s something you want to do, just do it,” she said.
