There’s been a lot of talk regarding beacons of late, but a new app is spotlighting just how much they might be able to change the game in franchising.

Rosé Time, a new Apple Watch app created specifically for use at the 2015 Cannes Lions festival, allows users to order up a glass of Rosé by simply responding to a notification that pops up once they enter designated areas.

According to Ad Week, once an attendee enters the Cannes Lions Beach VIP area, they will receive this message on their app: "Rosé Time?"

"We wanted to be able to do more than just show up; we wanted to be able to inspire the global creative community with what's possible in mobile," Scott Townsend, director of agency programs at Urban Airship, the company behind the app, was quoted as saying.

Now imagine you have a similar app from your favorite pizza place. You typically order a pie on Friday nights, and your app knows this. As soon as you walk through your front door, the app pings you with this message: “The usual?”

And just by clicking yes, your favorite specialty pizza is on its way.

While ‘za is the first food to come to mind, this technology could be applied to any delivery. It’s only a matter of time before brands trade in wine for wings and whatever else consumers crave.
