According to a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/03/amazon-grabbed-4-percent-of-all-us-retail-sales-in-2017-new-study.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=cnbc-amazon-grabbed-4-percent-of-all-us-retail-sales-in-2017-2705160" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">recent CNBC article and One Click Retail</a>, the internet giant was responsible for 44 percent of all U.S. e-commerce sales in 2017, which is 4 percent of the country&rsquo;s total retail sales figure.

&quot;Every major trend we see across 2017 can be explained by the fact that more of Amazon&#39;s core demographic (millennials) are growing up: they&#39;re increasingly owning homes, raising children, and buying a TON of stuff to go with it,&quot; wrote One Click Retail CEO Spencer Millerberg.

Consumer electronics and home and kitchen topped the product groups for most sales in 2017, while the fastest-growing product categories this year included luxury beauty, pantry items, grocery and furniture.
