Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton supporters can agree that this election has been a hard fought battle and certianly one to remember. According to a recent study by the American Pyschological Association (APA) in this Fox Business article, 52 percent of adults who were surveyed said that the presidential election this year is a big source of stress.

One major factor is the role social media has played in this election compared to past elections. Thirty-eight percent of adults said that the political discussions they see on social media makes their blood boil. Constant reminders of who said what, what implications it has, and your friends, family, and acquaintances&rsquo; stance on the issues is all&nbsp;taking its toll on the emotions of American adults.&nbsp;

&ldquo;We&rsquo;re seeing that it doesn&rsquo;t matter whether you&rsquo;re registered as a Democrat or Republican &mdash; U.S. adults say they are experiencing significant stress from the current election,&rdquo; Lynn Bufka, Ph.D., APA&rsquo;s associate executive director for practice research and policy, told FOXBusiness.com.

Fox Business spoke with the manager of wellness services &amp; cardiopulmonary rehabilitation at Southampton Hospital to learn the effects they are seeing. Jessa R. Swiatocha reported&nbsp;that the hospital has added a sign asking patients not to have political debates. This will result in increased stress, which can be fatal for those recovering from heart surgery.

From the survey, the APA found that&nbsp;Hispanics are the most stressed out&nbsp;group with 56 percent saying the election is a very or somewhat significant source of stress, whereas whites and Native Americans both reported&nbsp;52 percent of adults with high stress levels.
