Over seven hundred people gathered for the brand's spreading party to break the record with 39,303 sandwiches going to local charities.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">Which Wich set the same record in January 2015, but once it was broken they decided to take it back, and give back even more. Which Wich employees joined volunteers in the spreading.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">"It's both a service event and a team-building event," Vice President of Corporate Communications Hala Habal said. </span></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><span style="">But most of the sandwich-makers had no Which Wich connection. V</span><span style="">olunteers were excited for the opportunity to break a record and to give back to the community.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">"I want to give to somebody, help somebody," said Herschel Walker, retired Dallas Cowboys running back. "I don't think I was good at the assembly lines, but they had me stacking and bagging them instead."</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">A youth group from a local church even pitched in.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">"We saw an opportunity to volunteer and give back to the local food banks and community and we said yes," said Eric Thornton, a youth group leader at West Erwin Church of Christ.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">Sponsors provided the nearly 90,000 bread slices and around 3,500 lbs of both peanut butter and jelly for the event. </span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">A world record judge-- Michael Empric-- was on-hand for the official announcement, but even if they didn't break the record, he was excited to be a part of the event.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">"What I love about this particular record is even if they don't break the record, what they're doing is so much more important," Empric said.
