Franchising Magazine USA: Pollo Campero Breaks Sales Records in 2023, Continues to Grow

After experiencing a record-breaking year in terms of franchise growth, profit and system wide sales, Pollo Campero is heading into 2024 with an ambitious expansion plan.

Pollo Campero, the fast-casual chicken franchise with 90 units across the U.S. and another 270 worldwide, is wrapping up 2023 with remarkable franchise growth and has built strong momentum as the new year approaches. 

Pollo Campero was recently featured on Franchising Magazine USA, where the brand boasted that it managed to close out the first half of 2023 with seven new restaurant openings across Manhattan (2); Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Madison, Tennessee; Lawrenceville, Georgia; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Kyle, Texas. Additionally, one of the brand’s corporate units was sold in Kenner, Louisiana to a franchise partner. 

Pollo Campero, which started as a small family-owned restaurant in Guatemala in 1971, has grown into one of the world’s biggest chicken concepts and has developed a loyal following as a result of its flavorful and high-quality Central American cuisine. 

Blas Escarcega, the brand’s director of franchise development, emphasized that in addition to Pollo Campero’s expansion, the franchise has also seen impressive sales and profit growth. 

“Year to date results continue to deliver meaningful system wide sales and profit growth supported by strong same store sales and unit growth along with increase in restaurant margins. July was a record month for us in regards to system-wide sales and profits,” said Escarcega. “We continue to have exceptional first-day results at our new openings, and there’s tremendous acceptance of the brand in new markets.” 

Pollo Campero is actively targeting new markets across the U.S. for expansion, including in Arizona, Louisiana, North Florida, Alabama, Texas, Utah and Colorado. With its latest record-breaking year, the brand is on track to reach its development goals while continuing to solidify itself as a lasting player in the franchise community.
