Social media and franchising expert Lisa Oak explains how brands can barrow down their social media focus.

There’s no shortage of social media platforms out there for brands to use in order to engage their customers. But just because those networks exist doesn’t mean that brands should stretch themselves thin to have a presence on all of them.
Lisa Oak, founder of Oak Advisory Services, joined this week’s Social Geek Radio podcast to explain the best practices and strategies that franchise brands and small business owners should follow when establishing a strong social media presence. She brings years of digital experience to the table—Oak worked alongside Subway’s founder Fred DeLuca for 29 years. She now helps franchisors with their development and growth strategies through her own company.
Throughout the podcast, Oak answers multiple questions surrounding social media use. She explains that target audiences and potential customers should ultimately determine which digital networks brands should spend their time on.
“Know who your ideal customer is—where is your ideal customer in the social media world? Are they on Facebook? Are they on Snapchat? Are they using Instagram or Pinterest? And then utilize that social platform to drive your customer base,” said Oak.
