TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Opens its First Location in Vermont, Enters Its 45th State

North America’s No. 1 moving franchise is inching closer and closer to having a presence in every state, expanding its reach with franchise partners both old and new.

Chad Covell and Kiernan Flynn are ushering North America’s No. 1 moving franchise, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, into its 45th state on the map: Vermont. The business partners are setting up shop in Burlington early this year.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK already has more than 380 locations and 3,000 trucks operating throughout 44 states as well as Canada, Ireland and the U.K. And since 1985, the leading moving franchise has been pushing ahead in its mission to move people forward, already performing more 7.5 million moves since its inception.

For Flynn, establishing roots in the moving industry was a decision that came naturally.

Growing up as a nomad of sorts, Flynn moved from country to country every two years because of his father’s position as a foreign services officer. And now, as someone who knows just how stressful the moving process can be, he’s using his business to help members of his community feel more comfortable and at ease when they’re moving into a new home.

“The moving industry is something I grew up with, and my siblings and I all understood that moving can be a very stressful part of people’s lives. That’s what influenced me to go into the moving industry with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK — to make that moving process less stressful and help streamline people’s experiences,” said Flynn.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s culture and support at the corporate level encouraged Flynn to sign on with the brand and bring it to his hometown of Burlington.

“The openness and the conversations that I had with the corporate team and other franchise owners made it an easy decision to pursue franchise ownership with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK,” he said.

And after chatting with other franchise owners, Flynn felt reassured in his commitment to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK in an uncertain economic climate.

“I connected with franchise owners who opened their territories right before the economic crash to see how they weathered the storm, knowing that we are in a similar situation today. It was very telling of the brand to learn that they stuck with those owners through the tough times.”

As for Covell, who just last year opened a location in Grand Junction, Colorado, and a friend of Flynn’s, developing a territory in Vermont was an opportunity to reinvest in and grow with a brand he’d already seen success with.

Having owned a few businesses prior to franchising with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, Covell was familiar with how to keep operations running smoothly but wanted to pursue an opportunity that didn’t require him to start from scratch.

“I wasn’t ready to start from scratch and the support TWO MEN AND A TRUCK offered was really appealing. From human resources to marketing, it was nice because I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel.”

As the brand continues to grow its network of movers who care, President Randy Shacka says he’s excited for the brand to take its first steps into Vermont. He’s particularly enthusiastic about the partnership between Flynn and Covell — a new franchisee and an existing one — and believes that the duo make the perfect pair to grow the brand in a new territory.

"We want our employees to grow within our system to establish careers that they love while also helping our franchisees achieve success as they continue to reinvest in our franchise opportunity,” said Shacka. “We know that Chad and Kiernan will do a fantastic job representing our brand and providing top-notch customer service across Vermont."
