USA Today: Taco Bell begins testing delivery service at 200 stores
Ordering Taco Bell just got easier.
Oh, what a time to be alive! Now there is no need to even leave your couch to order Taco Bell. That’s because the chain has announced that it will start testing a new delivery service at over 200 locations.
"We've been talking about delivery for a while, because it's the No. 1 most requested thing," Tressie Lieberman, vice president of innovation and on demand at Taco Bell told USA Today.
The fast-food chain has announced that it will be partnering with the Palo Alto, California-based tech company DoorDash for the new delivery service. The company will begin testing the delivery service at 200 locations throughout Dallas, Los Angeles, Orange County, California and San Francisco Bay-area markets.
Taco Bell is not requiring a minimum delivery order, but a $3.99 flat delivery fee will be applied to all orders. Tipping the driver is also encouraged.
This comes on the heels of other fast-food companies entering the delivery business.
"Fewer (Millennials) own cars," Mary Chapman, senior director of product innovation at Technomic, told USA Today. "If you look at the long-term trend, particularly in urban markets, well maybe the drive thru isn't where to look for growth."
