Summer Hiring Heats Up
According to an annual survey released by Snagajob, an hourly employment marketplace, 91 percent of hourly employers plan to hire the same or more workers this summer compared to last summer. This is a 17 percent increase from 2015 and over 50 percent of an increase from 2014. This summer, the report expects the average hourly wage to be $12.75 per hour. Of the new restaurant summer hires, 66 percent of employers anticipate employees will be working part-time with an average of 28-hours per week.


Jersey Mike’s Raises over $4M for Charity
During Jersey Mike’s sixth annual “Month of Giving,” the company, with the help of their customers, raised over $4 million for 180 different charities nationwide. On March 30, the brand’s annual “Day of Giving,” the company raised $3.4 million on that day when 100 percent of sales went to charity partners. Since it’s founding in 2011, the annual “Month of Giving” has raised over $12 million for charities throughout the U.S.


Chick-fil-A Tests Gluten-Free Buns
This is a first. Chick-fil-A has started testing gluten-free buns at their locations in Boise, Idaho; Jackson, Mississippi; and Seattle. This makes the chicken brand the first major fast-food restaurant to offer gluten free buns. Fans who want to try the new buns will have to pay an additional $1.15. While the buns are individually wrapped, the brand wants fans to be aware that their kitchens are not gluten-free for those with severe allergies.


TGI Friday’s Offers New Lunch Menu
Fans of the Dallas, Texas-based TGI Friday’s can now enjoy a new lunch menu at participating locations. The new menu is meant to encourage fans to dine out for lunch rather than enjoying it their desks. The new menu includes the Truffle Stacked Burger, Mediterranean Mahi Mahi Naan’Wich, California Chicken Club, Green with Passion Smoothie, and other beverages. The new “On The Double” pairing allows customers to add mozzarella sticks, a house salad, Caesar salad or soup with the selected lunch entrée for $6.99 to $8.99 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Noodles & Co. is helping fans de-stress on Tax Day with two new promotions. This Tax Day, Monday, April 18, guests who bring in their “little deductible” to participating locations will receive a free Kids Meal with a purchase of any regular entrée. In addition to that, fans that order online can receive $4 off any $10 purchase placed through order.noodles.com using the code TAXDAY. The online promotion is running from April 11 to April 18, 2016.
