During IFA 2017 in Las Vegas, 1851 Franchise Publisher Nick Powills sat down with outgoing IFA Chairman and Founder of NRD Capital Aziz Hashim to discuss his greatest accomplishments from the past year. Hashim’s mission was to build and broadcast the franchise industry’s narrative. And now, even as Hashim’s time as chairman comes to an end, it’s clear that that story is just beginning.

“I’m proud of the work done over the past year. We made such a concerted effort to address the biggest threat to the franchise industry today—and that’s the fact that it’s under attack and being threatened by misconceptions. We identified that ignorance is the cause, and that’s 90 percent of the battle. Understanding the root cause enables us to find a solution,” Hashim said. “Now, it’s about education. We need to correct that fundamental misunderstanding.”
