The Myles family, a close-knit group of a husband, wife and their two daughters have signed on to open three <a href="https://franchise.chebahut.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=all-in-the-family-myles-family-signed-to-open-three-cheba-hut-franchises-in-riverside-ca-2708824" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Cheba Hut</a> locations over the next several years with their first to open in Riverside, California. The Myles family have also been a part of the medical industry and have seen first-hand what cannabis does and how much healthier it is than it was thought to be.

&ldquo;Given the timing I thought it was perfect to open a marijuana-themed sandwich shop,&rdquo; said Franchisee Tyrone Myles, &ldquo;The bias in the past against marijuana was because it wasn&rsquo;t legal and therefore, stoners were seen as underachievers. Since it&rsquo;s legal now, I&rsquo;m realizing the prevalence of it and the progression of pot being associated with stoners to doctors. We&rsquo;re stoner professionals, not professional stoners.&rdquo;

The new <a href="https://1851franchise.com/chebahut" target="_blank">Cheba Hut</a> in Riverside will be the first in the area and Myles thinks there is room for at least ten more locations. Cheba Hut allows franchisees to personalize their stores and adapt to the city&rsquo;s cultural environment instead of requiring the same design and layout at all their locations.

&ldquo;Tyrone is a hard worker and he loves the food, he even brought his entire family out for Discovery Day,&rdquo; said Seth Larsen, Chief Relationship Officer of Cheba Hut, &ldquo;We prefer our franchise partners to understand business. If someone has a strong business acumen, that&rsquo;s a positive sign and will set them up for success once they open their franchise..&rdquo;

All members of the Myles family will be involved in running the Cheba Hut location. Danielle Myles, the youngest daughter, will serve as the General Manager, and Caris Myles, the oldest daughter, has served as Tyrone&rsquo;s right-hand person in the past and he hopes that she is able to transition full-time to Cheba Hut in the near future.

&ldquo;My dad and I have been working together for two years now and it&rsquo;s been such a great experience,&rdquo; said Caris. &ldquo;This new adventure is really exciting because it involves the whole family and there&rsquo;s nothing like Cheba Hut out there. I love sandwiches and the fact that the sauces are all handmade, and the whole vibe of the shop will thrive really well in California.&rdquo;

Caris and Tyrone have formerly worked together in the medical field, and through their work together Caris has been able to show her father her creative and problem-solving abilities. However, Tyrone and his daughters are no strangers to hard work and perseverance even in times of great struggle. Serving as mentors for their daughters, Tyrone and Lisa have strived to teach them how to navigate corporate America and to be successful even though they are adults. They hope that these lessons will translate to the running of their new Cheba Hut.

&ldquo;I think if I can minimize my kids being exposed to corporate America then we&rsquo;re ahead of the game,&rdquo; said Tyrone, &ldquo;My wife is a three-time cancer survivor so it&rsquo;s changed our entire perspective on life. Opportunities such as this for Cheba Hut, I want to be entrepreneurs so we make sure we have fun while we&rsquo;re still here.&rdquo;

Here’s what he had to say:1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What do you want us to know?John Bailey:&nbsp;I am 63 years old and live in the Scarborough area of Toronto. We opened our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK location at 153 Bridgeland Avenue 16 years ago, and we are moving into our 17th year soon. We run a very team-oriented company culture, and I actually see our business as a sports franchise. Our movers are essentially athletes who lift and move furniture all day.1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Bailey:&nbsp;Prior to franchising, I worked in the automotive industry for 21 years. After that, I was involved in a home renovations business with my brother, which eventually grew to serve all of Ontario and Alberta. Around 2009, the recession led to a shift in that home renovations business, so I decided to pursue a different direction. I wanted to do my own thing, separate from working with my brother, so I started with one TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchise and have since expanded to five units.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Bailey:&nbsp;I initially viewed franchising as just buying into an established brand and system, noticing that many large businesses like McDonald’s and Tim Hortons operate that way. Now that I am in it, I highly recommend becoming a franchisee because of the incredible support system available when challenges arise. However, I want people to know that a good brand does not automatically run itself. That commitment to service has resulted in a consistently high referral rate that often exceeds 96% every year.1851: Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?Bailey:&nbsp;We do a lot of exciting commercial work, maintaining contracts with high-profile clients like the Toronto Raptors and the Toronto Maple Leafs. We handle complex, last-minute moves, like shipping a player’s belongings from Florida to Sacramento during the pandemic, which really demonstrates our commitment to finding solutions for any problem. We are also heavily involved in charity events, including the annual&nbsp;Movers for Moms initiative, and for the last five or six years, we have coordinated Christmas shoebox deliveries for women in shelters and in abusive relationships across Toronto.1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?Bailey:&nbsp;New owners must be ready to work hard and stay closely involved in the business, especially in the early stages. I have always believed in being available when needed, and I still share my cell phone number for direct contact. Being her support team is an example of exactly what Griswold is about.1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?DuBose:&nbsp;I spent almost 30 years in human resources across a wild range of industries, everything from timber processing and meatpacking to my last role in the "clean and conscious" beauty space.I'd always thought about maybe starting a business of my own, but the moment actually kind of came through volunteering. I went through rookie school to become a volunteer firefighter at age 50. While out on calls, I kept seeing seniors struggling with falls, welfare checks and other situations where they simply needed help. I looked at various service brands, but home care was the only thing that touched me personally.1851: What was your perception of franchising before becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?DuBose:&nbsp;I don’t think a lot of people realize that two out of three businesses they pass on the road are actually franchises. I knew I wanted to build something, but I didn’t necessarily have a unique idea in mind. I had a struggling life, had multiple jobs, and worked seven days a week, 12 hours a day. My first job was with AT&amp;T Wireless in the telecommunication world, but I also worked some odd jobs in the mall during the days I wasn’t working at AT&amp;T. I worked there for five years, but due to the entrepreneurial mindset that I inherited from my family, I always knew I wanted to do something on my own. I started my first business with a couple of friends back in 2007.&nbsp;That's my story… at least, that’s where my journey began.1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Rawra: At that point, the only experience I had was in the telecommunication world—I knocked on doors of Verizon, AT&amp;T, Sprint, and T-Mobile and got rejections everywhere.
