Here’s a sobering statistic: alcohol consumption declined by 0.8 percent last year, according to a Fox Business report citing data compiled by the Wall Street Journal.

Americans continued the previous year's trend of drinking less of all types of booze, but beer drinking showed the steepest drop, according to the article. Millennials’ attention to healthy living and an increased interest in cannabis-infused products are likely reasons for putting down the bottle, according to the report.

In December, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced it was launching a $100 million project to research cannabis-infused drinks with Canadian marijuana producer Tilray, according to the article. Constellations Brands, Corona’s parent company, and Molson-Coors have also gone public with their plans to explore the role of cannabis in their products, according to the article.
