It’s been a decade since ARCpoint Labs entered the franchise game from their headquarters in downtown Greenville, the city where CEO Felix Mirando grew up, and in that time the brand has grown to nearly 100 locations across the country. Just like the brand, which began as a drug testing franchise and has since expanded and morphed to get ahead of trends in employment and health services to boast a rich variety of revenue streams, Mirando’s path was one adaption.

For a recent article in GSA Business, Mirando discussed his time at the University of South Carolina, time working in the political sphere, his foray into franchising with Heavenly Ham, and finally what attracted him to the booming drug testing industry.

“When I sold Heavenly Ham I started looking at the whole (drug and alcohol testing) industry and saw it was very fragmented,” Mirando told GSA Business’s Bill Poovey. “There really was no national brand whatsoever.”

The brand has taken off and boasts nearly 100 locations with 80 franchise owners, with plans to continue expanding rapidly. The brand recently opened a new location in nearby Spartanburg.

“It’s a very active area for manufacturing and trucking companies,” Chuck Burgess, manager of the new Spartanburg location, told GSA Business. “There is multitude of manufacturing companies that need to be doing random testing.”

Mirando, proud of Greenville, is always excited to bring new potential franchise candidates to their corporate offices in the city to learn about the brand but also to experience the culture of Greenville.

“When we bring people in … and this being an awesome spot because they can stay at the hotel and we train here, we hold our Discovery Days, and they have access to downtown. They love it,” said Mirando.
