As COVID-19 Forces Gyms to Close, Workout Anytime Finds New Ways to Keep Members Active

The fitness brand introduced a new app, featuring a Workout of the Day and other exercises members can do at home.

The impact of COVID-19 has been felt by businesses in virtually every industry As gyms are forced to close, many members are cancelling memberships. But some gyms, like Workout Anytime, have established creative new ways to engage with members, keep them active at home and avoid cancellations.

Workout Anytime Chief Operations Office, Mark de Gorter wrote in Club Industry about the steps his brand is taking to help keep members healthy at home and keep memberships active at all of the brand’s 170 locations.

“When cities and states started setting their own protocols for social distancing or shelter-in-place practices, we recognized that we needed to be prepared for our clubs to temporarily close their doors. Even in markets where local officials have not required citizens to shelter in place, the vast majority of gyms across the country are closed. Because of this, thousands of consumers are left without a place to exercise,” wrote de Gorter.

The first step Workout Anytime took to keep members engaged was moving the workouts online. The fitness brand introduced virtual workouts to bring the gyms to the homes of members. The brand launched an app that includes a YouTube playlist with a Workout of the Day, where one of the trainers lead members through a workout.

These solutions have allowed franchisees, employees and members to keep in touch, and they offer plenty of resources to stay healthy and active at home.
