Meghan Griffiths has had a very successful career in HR and definitely knows the human resources career path inside and out. In this show, she explains what it takes to be a great human resources leader and how to avoid some of the most common mistakes.

Let’s face it, we all need help from time to time in our lives. One of the best things about being an HR professional is that you get to be a trusted resource for others. In Meghan’s 15 years of experience, this is one of the most rewarding parts of her job.

But that brings us to the next question: Why do so many people dislike HR? One problem pointed out by Meghan is that some HR leaders lose sight of what they're really meant to help a business with. They overcomplicate things instead of trying to understand how a policy is going to impact the business.

When pursuing a human resources career path, it’s important not to lose sight of what really matters. As a human resources leader, you’re there to help the people around you.

And if you really want to make a significant impact, make sure you do three things: care deeply about the people you're supporting, have an incredible sense of urgency, and always do your best to listen and understand.

A human resources career path is one in which you’ll always be learning and growing. Remain open to change and growth and you’ll become a human resources leader that people truly admire.
