Ben & Jerry’s Announces Matthew McCarthy As New CEO
McCarthy joins the ice cream brand after two decades with its parent company, Unilever
Vermont-based ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s is under new leadership. The ice cream maker introduced Matthew McCarthy as CEO in a news release on Wednesday, though according to the company, he has served in the role since the beginning of July. McCarthy joins Ben & Jerry’s from its parent company, Unilever, where he worked as a marketing executive focused on social impact for 21 years. He succeeds Jostein Solheim, who had been in the role since 2010. Ben & Jerry’s says McCarthy plans to lead the brand forward by "doubling its social impact," while continuing its focus on a quality product, growing profits and community involvement.
