On Thursday, Amazon announced its plan to hire more than 100,000 people in the U.S. over the next 18 months, which comes at a time when Trump has been urging companies to employ more Americans. Considering Amazon&rsquo;s growth throughout the past few years - breaking into the grocery industry and meeting trends like cloud services and on-demand delivery - the company&rsquo;s plans for a major hiring spree isn&rsquo;t particularly surprising.

&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a very powerful headline, and the timing certainly makes Trump look good,&rdquo; Ivan Feinseth, an analyst at Tigress Financial Partners LLC, told <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-01-12/amazon-to-create-more-than-100-000-new-jobs-in-u-s-in-18-months?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=bloomberg-amazon-to-create-100000-new-jobs-in-us-in-next-18-months-9271" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Bloomberg</a>. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s going to happen in the first year and half of his administration. Bezos couldn&rsquo;t have set him up any better to look good -- timing is everything.&rdquo;

While an uptick in American hires certainly sounds really positive, research groups have argued that the company&rsquo;s disruption of the traditional retail industry leads to Amazon eliminating more jobs than it creates.
