Bloomberg: Amazon to Create 100,000 New Jobs in U.S. in Next 18 Months

100,000 new jobs certainly sounds positive, but could it disrupt employment in the traditional retail industry?

On Thursday, Amazon announced its plan to hire more than 100,000 people in the U.S. over the next 18 months, which comes at a time when Trump has been urging companies to employ more Americans. Bezos couldn’t have set him up any better to look good -- timing is everything.”

While an uptick in American hires certainly sounds really positive, research groups have argued that the company’s disruption of the traditional retail industry leads to Amazon eliminating more jobs than it creates.
