In the world of franchising, training and support is perhaps one of the biggest keys to scalability and success. With a culture focused on the human element of business operations, BooXkeeping, a franchise that stands out for its revolutionary approach to bookkeeping services, understands this deeply. That’s why its unique blend of executive coaching, training and support goes above and beyond what is conventionally offered to franchise owners.

“Our franchise owners are not just getting technical training and sales support — they are getting something that nobody else offers: continuous and consistent, high-quality mental and emotional support,” said Dr. Elena Emma, BooXkeeping co-founder and CPO. “We aren’t just holding their hand through onboarding. They have a personal coach who understands their unique perspective, knows this is hard and will be there to support them when they think it is impossible."

A Comprehensive Training Model

BooXkeeping is a bookkeeping franchise that combines professional expertise with genuine human connection to provide cutting-edge bookkeeping services for small and medium-sized businesses, franchisees, franchisors, CPA firms and more.

Founded by Max and Elena Emma, two entrepreneurial immigrants with in-depth experience in finance and accounting, the brand’s journey spans over 20 years. Today, with seven franchise locations across the country and one corporate location, BooXkeeping has emerged as a unique player in the bookkeeping industry, emphasizing a human-driven approach and personalized service.

As a franchisor, BooXkeeping made sure to build a low-cost, home-based model that would provide an attractive work-life balance for its business owners. And the co-founders' dedication to franchisee support is unparalleled.

“Their success directly contributes to our success,” said Max. “We handle all the marketing assistance, the necessary technology, the staffing solutions and more. This isn’t just about selling franchises; it’s about driving their profitability. Many franchises overlook this aspect.”

This support includes a two-week training program for franchisees, covering everything from operations and marketing to the finer aspects of the bookkeeping trade. “We have our operations team and their job is to walk our incoming franchisees through the basics of the business model,” said Elena.

Executive Coaching and Crisis Management

Following training, franchise owners will go through six months of sales coaching and a year of bi-weekly executive coaching with none other than Elena herself, a crisis coach, entrepreneur, TEDx speaker and educator who has dedicated the last 12 years to humanizing organizations and advocating for an apprenticeship approach to entrepreneurial education. As Chief People Officer of BooXkeeping, her focus on human-oriented structures and crisis coaching for franchisees transforms the standard business model into a journey of personal development.

"My role is to focus on the culture and emotional backbone of the franchise," Elena said. “How is the organization structured? How do we function? What is important to us? What are our principles? What does it mean to be a BooXkeeper? They are standing behind our brand, so we need them to understand what it means to be a part of our franchise family.”

From there, Elena is deeply involved in providing ongoing emotional support and executive coaching, focusing on the franchisees' personal and professional development. "Once they are ready, we schedule our support meetings and have them every two weeks," Elena said. “They connect with me one-on-one and we set some goals. What is the challenge? How are they progressing? How does that relate to their goals? I am highly available to answer these questions — they even have my WhatsApp!”

As a business coach with a specific focus on crisis management, Elena is uniquely qualified to recognize the multifaceted nature of the franchisee's journey.

“Franchise owners are often in a form of crisis, even if they don’t realize it,” said Elena. “It is a big shift going from being an employee to being self-employed as a franchisee. These are not entrepreneurs — they are business owners. The difference is that they are not looking to reinvent the wheel. There is a process and system behind them, so when they are on board, I can help them through their individual journey.”

For example, when it comes to franchise owners, Elena says she aims to address three critical aspects: the entrepreneurial journey, trade practices and sales/marketing strategies.

“If someone has a background in accounting, they might struggle with sales, necessitating guidance on relationship building, networking and brand promotion, rather than getting bogged down in accounting specifics,” said Elena. “If they come from a corporate environment, on the other hand, our focus shifts to equipping them with the necessary skills for effective bookkeeping. Each franchise has a different journey.”

A Personalized Approach to Success

Overall, Elena says what sets BooXkeeping's franchisee support apart is the personalized, continuous access to a passionate and qualified network.

"Incubating businesses in a unique way is really my life purpose," Elena said. “At 15, I dreamed of creating my own institution focused on business and philosophy. Two decades later, I found myself in Barcelona, bringing a variation of this vision to life through my PhD project. I love sharing this expertise with our franchise owners. I started as a bookkeeper myself, so I’ve walked a mile in their shoes.”

And the support doesn’t just come from the corporate team. BooXkeeping recently rolled out a monthly Franchisee Town Hall, for example, a platform for fellow franchisees to share best practices, address concerns and foster a sense of community.

“Embarking on a business venture for the first time can be daunting, filled with highs and lows,” said Elena. “It’s a journey of discovery, allowing individuals to make a significant impact, forge meaningful connections and create value.”
