In recent years, companies have encountered high turnover rates, making brands question what more they can do with internal practices that celebrate employees, bolstering their acquisition, development and retention of workers. <a href="https://www.hrdive.com/news/turnover-is-at-an-all-time-high-says-salarycom/542057/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=building-a-sustainable-workplace-culture-sets-companies-on-a-path-of-success-and-continued-growth-2709752" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">In 2018, alone, the U.S. experienced the highest turnover rate</a>, according to Compdata. 

Entrepreneur Magazine also reported, &ldquo;In recent research, 75% of HR professionals surveyed in the U.K. and United States said that they had experienced an average employee turnover rate of up to 30% each year.&rdquo;

While embedding a sustainable workplace culture may take time, according to Entrepreneur, it starts with &ldquo;looking closely at your internal business practices, and how your business interacts with its surroundings. Companies with a clear and well-managed approach to their environmental and social impacts are better positioned to shape their future and to benefit from it.&rdquo;

Though non-traditional, Entrepreneur stated that companies who have found success in sustainable workplace practices encourage fellow businesses and franchises to provide and cultivate a &ldquo;volunteering culture&rdquo; through employee volunteer programs. Recent studies and successful brands like Starbucks have chosen to opt-in to sustainable practices and volunteer programs to allow the current wave of millennial workers to find a higher purpose in their work.
