Burger King Brags About Causing Customers Pain with New X-Ray Ads
The Whopper and Mega Stacker campaign features real jaw injuries and the tagline, “We warned you it was big.”
What doesn’t kill you makes your bones the stars of an ad campaign. David, the advertising agency that has worked with Burger King on several past campaigns, including this year’s Andy Warhol Super Bowl spot, is back—and this time, it’s medical.
AdWeek reports that the new Burger King ads, which promote the Whopper and Mega Stacker burgers, feature purportedly real X-rays of customers’ jaw injuries due to, one is led to believe, the massive size of the burgers. Accompanying tweets—which appear to span a decade of fast-food related injuries—reveal sentiments like “Ouch… sprained my jaw at Burger King, great huh?”, “Think I’m the only person to hurt my jaw eating a Whopper #stillhungry LOL” and “5:30 am disclocated my jaw eating a Stacker."
