Calios Acquires Popular Calzone Franchise D. P. Dough
Two major calzone brands have agreed on a merger, effective in July.
Instead of continued competition with Calios, D. P. Dough agreed to be acquired by it’s fellow calzone company.
Although the terms are undisclosed, Nation’s Restaurant News stated, “Under the agreement, the 13 Calios units will all be converted to D.P. Dough, which currently has 26 outlets.”
Matt Crumpton, CEO of D.P. Dough Franchising LLC, said in a statement that the acquisition by Calios should be seen as the joining of forces to create a stronger brand across a greater variety of markets. As competitors in the same market, the companies see this partnership as an opportunity to grow their similar menu selections. Both brands are popular with the college population due to the late-night nature of their food service.
The Calio and D. P. Dough merger will be effective at the beginning of July and guests can anticipate a slightly revamped menu, featuring popular selections from both brands on the horizon.
