Canadian Poutine Franchise Eyes 800 Locations in America
Smoke’s Poutinerie has ambitious growth goals for U.S.
1851’s deep and abiding love for poutine is well-documented. In fact, we’ve previously gone so far as to describe the lack of poutine options in America as criminal.
Well, it appears the potato gods have heard our pleas.
Smoke’s Poutinerie, a Canadian franchise specializing in, you guessed it, poutine, has announced plans to open 800 locations in the U.S. over the next five years. This is in addition to opening 1,300 locations around the globe over the same time period.
According to Franchise Times, Smoke’s Poutinerie has 100 units open in Canada, where fans of the franchise are drawn to its 30 poutine variations.
Whether or not demand will be high enough in America to support 800 locations remains to be seen, but our office is more than willing to hand over its hard-earned cash in exchange for some expertly prepared poutine.
