Chad Cohen, principal at CapitalSpring, attended the RestCon conference in Addison, Texas where Executives from private-equity firms gathered together to discuss how they are using data when making restaurant investments decisions.

During the conference, Cohen discussed what the brand looks for while determining restaurant investments and acquisitions and how data can play a major factor in the decision process. It was also mentioned that NRD Capital Management decided to hire a consulting firm to conduct a market study which ultimately helped identify the root cause of the turnover a brand was having.

“It’s very key with a lot of brands that we look at where there is a strong affinity to the brand and a loyal customer base, but the brand has outgrown the management team a little bit and needs some support. That’s where it’s nice to come in and kind of bring in an off-the-shelf-type playbook and run it with the brand," said Cohen.
