Restaurants across the U.S. are seeing the introduction of robotics to daily operations to combat the growing labor shortage.
Jim Balis, Managing Director of Strategic Operations at CapitalSpring, was interviewed by Restaurant Dive to discuss the growing trend of utilizing robot technology to combat labor shortages in the restaurant industry. The current shortage is forcing many restaurant operators to find new and innovative ways to serve and prepare food for their customers.
"I think you're going to see a lot more with respect to robotics," said Balis. "There's a lot [in] our industry that can be executed pretty simply."
The article says preparing coffee, frozen yogurt and smoothies are just a few of the tasks that can be performed by robots. Top chains like Dennys, Saladworks, SweetGreen and Jamba are all jumping on the trend to maintain customer satisfaction and ease operations.
"A robot doesn't call in sick, works on the weekend and it's not having an affair with another employee or another robot," Balis said.
