Chick-fil-A Cancels Giveaways In St. Louis Due To Polar Vortex

Chick-fil-A doesn’t serve frozen chicken, and it won’t serve frozen customers, either. According to an article on Fox Business, the chain has canceled two First 100 Campout events in St. Louis, Missouri on Thursday due to wind chills flirting with 30 below zero.

According to Chick-fil-A, the First 100 Campout, dating back to 2003, is a 24-hour overnight celebration ahead of new location grand openings, with the first 100 people in line awarded free Chick-fil-A for a year. Fox Business reports that Chick-fil-A released a statement saying, “The safety of our Team Members and customers is our utmost priority. Due to forecasts predicting below-zero wind chills, the First 100 Campout event at our new restaurants … has been canceled.”

Thick-skinned fans were apparently disappointed that they couldn’t capitalize on the lessened competition. According to the article, a St. Louis resident posted on the “First 100 Campout” Facebook page, “I wish there was an alternative: I have been planning for this for months and we bought supplies specifically for this weather!!!”
