Sylvan Learning of Orange Park is celebrating 40 years of providing personalized tutoring services to students in the community, Clay Today recently reported. Under the leadership of owner Rafael Urquiza, the center continues to offer support in reading, math, writing, science, study skills and test prep.
“That’s what tutoring brings to the enrichment of the children who can use that and translate it into success in the classroom and be able to continue their education even after graduating high school,” said Urquiza.
Urquiza, who acquired the business after seeing the positive impact it had on his own children, has been expanding the franchise’s reach.
“During the time they went to Sylvan, I noticed an improvement in their grades, reading comprehension and math skills,” Urquiza said.
He has focused on digital marketing, community engagement and securing scholarships through the Step Up For Students program to support families in need.
The center is also working to serve lower-income communities and is set to begin contract work with local schools. Under its new ownership by Unleashed Brands, Sylvan is innovating its instruction methods while maintaining its commitment to quality teaching.
As the center looks to the future, Urquiza hopes to pass the business to his children, ensuring that Sylvan Learning continues its legacy of empowering students for another 40 years.
