Club Solutions: Fitness Clubs Talk Rebounding Strategies

Steve Strickland, CEO of 24/7 fitness franchise Workout Anytime, shares his strategies for bouncing back from pandemic setbacks.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken up a lot of industries, and the health and wellness industry is no exception. A recent Club Industry report shares insight from various health and wellness experts on how technology has changed the industry and what brands can do to keep up with the times.

Greg Maurer, Vice President of Fitness Training and Education at the 24/7 fitness franchise Workout Anytime, told Club Industry how customers now expect more out of their health clubs and fitness centers.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically accelerated all digital fitness trends, and consumers now have an expectation to be able to work out in and out of clubs with guidance and motivation,” Maurer told Club Industry. “To fulfill this expectation, clubs must provide multiple options and tools.”

Some of those tools Maurer suggests include:

  • Investing in a club app for members
  • Sharing on-demand workouts with members who prefer to remain at home
  • Nutrition logging, tracking and training
  • Live virtual training sessions
  • Broadcasting in-club classes to members who are staying home
