Lack of mentorship and leadership opportunities were cited as reasons for gender inequality.
As women continue to enter franchising at a rapid pace, a focus on gender equality in the workplace should top of mind for franchisors. A recent CNBC article cited a Randstad U.S. study that stated 50 percent of female respondents would leave a company if they found our their male counterpart earned 25 percent more than they did.
"Change doesn't happen overnight," said Audra Jenkins, chief diversity and inclusion officer of Randstad North America. "In order to move the needle in a meaningful way, it is the utmost responsibility of corporate leaders to invest in programs that will help retool and empower women for future success."
The survey also stated that 58 percent of women noted that lack of mentorship and a no clear path to leadership roles aided in workplace inequality. It's important for franchisors to keep these stats in mind to ensure all franchisees feel the same support as the industry continues to evolve.
