CNBC: Watch Out, Starbucks! Dunkin’ To Sell Ready-To-Drink Coffee

Dunkin’ Donuts strikes a deal with Coca-Cola to offer ready-to-drink coffee beverages to customers.

Soon enough Starbucks won’t be the only coffee chain selling ready-to-drink coffee to the masses. According to a recent CNBC article, Dunkin’ Donuts has announced that they will be partnering with Coca-Cola to launch a line of cold coffee drinks in 2017 in the U.S.

Not only will this challenge their big time competitor Starbucks by entering the ready-to-drink coffee category, but in terms of partnerships it will be competing with a strong alliance--the North American Coffee Partnership--between PepsiCo and Starbucks.

This isn’t the first time Dunkin’ Donuts has taken a page out of Starbucks’ product book. The brand recently launched cold-brewed coffee and pumpkin spice lattes to their menu, which have previously had great success on the Starbucks’ menu.

"This new product introduction will increase consumption of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and increase our brand relevance with existing and new consumers, including many younger customers, which we believe will in turn, drive incremental visits to our restaurants," Nigel Travis, CEO and chairman of Dunkin' Brands said in a statement.

Consumers will soon be able to find the iced coffee drinks in convenience stores, grocery stores and of course in Dunkin’ Donuts locations across the country.
