Wingstop announced a new partnership with Amazon to make ordering food even easier, according to a <a href="http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/10/wingstop-partners-with-amazons-alexa.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=cnbc-wingstop-partners-with-amazons-alexa-9209" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">recent CNBC article</a>. After a customer links their Wingstop account to the Alexa app, they can order by simply asking Wingstop to order wings. Once they tell Alexa what they want to order, the order is sent to a local Wingstop.

Chief information offer at Wingstop&nbsp;Stacey Peterson&nbsp;explained that 75 percent of the company&#39;s&nbsp;business&nbsp;comes from takeout, and a large portion of that business is placed over the phones.

&quot;While we have almost 20 percent of our orders coming through the digital channels, we still rely heavily on the phones,&quot; she said. &quot;Like many restaurant brands, it is difficult to provide an excellent customer experience during peak times on the phone. As a result, we have been pursuing technology that enables ordering via voice commands.&quot;

The NPD Group reports that digital orders account for nearly 1.7 billion in food service visits and have increased 45 percent across the restaurant industry since 2014.

The Wingstop and Amazon partnership comes just a week after Amazon enabled Alexa devices to order from Amazon Restaurant.
