Del Taco Sued for Sexual Harassment

Male workers are alleged to have harassed and retaliated against female subordinates, including teenagers.

On Monday, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit against Del Taco, accusing the California-based franchise of not taking corrective action after reports of sexual harassment.

According to an article in Nation’s Restaurant News, the suit alleges at least three male employees at a company-owned Del Taco location sexually harassed female coworkers, including subordinates and teenagers, then retaliated against those employees when they complained.

“the company retaliated against those who complained by changing their schedules and reducing their working hours,” the EEOC said.

Del Taco says it is investigating the allegations.

“Del Taco takes this matter very seriously and we are currently investigating the allegations that have been brought to our attention,” a representative said in a statement. "Based on the findings of that investigation, we will take action as appropriate. Del Taco is committed to providing a safe environment for all employees and customers, free from harassment of any kind.”
