Denny’s Plans to Franchise 100 Company-Owned Locations in Next 18 Months

The family-dining chain is transitioning to become almost entirely franchisee-owned.

On a call with analysts this week, Denny’s announced plans to franchise more than 100 company-operated units over the next year and a half, according to a Restaurant Business article.

As part of a strategic transition to becoming almost entirely franchised, the move will take the 1,700-plus unit brand from being 90 percent franchisee-owned to 95-97 percent and consolidate its market area of corporate units down to eight states from 21, according to the article.
