QSR Magazine: Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte is Officially Back

The return of the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is finally here. According to a recent QSR Magazine article, the inventors of the “PSL” had no idea the nationwide trend they would start over 14 years ago.

“Nobody knew back then what it would grow to be,” said Peter Dukes, product manager leading development of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. "It’s taken on a life of its own.”

The drink is made with real pumpkin, and warm fall spices including cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove on top of its espresso and steamed milk base. For Starbucks customers in more than 50 countries, the drink symbolizes the beginning of fall. Customers have even embraced customizations to the drink that are now on menus including the Teavana Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte.
