eMarketer: Marketers Say ‘More’ to Search, Mobile, and Facebook

Social media is a top priority for U.S. marketers for the upcoming year.

Three quarters of marketing professionals in the U.S. surveyed in August 2016 said that they plan to increase their budgets for AdWords in the next 12 months, according to a recent eMarketer article. In addition, 69 percent of marketers said they plan to spend more on Facebook, 41 percent will spend more on Instagram, 34 percent on LinkedIn and 21 percent on Twitter.

Clearly, social is a top priority for marketers in the U.S. in the upcoming year and was in the last 12 months as well. Over 50 percent of marketers cited social media advertising as the most important tactic for digital marketing in August 2015.

While social media may be cited as the most important tactic, it hasn’t proven to be the most effective just yet. Survey respondents declared remarketing, mobile, and text ads were more effective than social media.

In 2016, eMarketer estimates that marketers spent $15.4 billion on social advertising, equaling 21.3 percent of the total digital ad spend.
