The partnership between Dog Training Elite and LightHouse Women & Children’s Center began with a single mom and her dog. Dog Training Elite played a crucial role in helping her navigate a difficult time and challenging situation.

“We had a woman who had a dog that really helped her through a very traumatic time in her life,” Kate Alley, executive director of LightHouse Women & Children’s Center, told 1851 Franchise.

Although beloved by the young children, however, the dog was a source of concern for the family as it displayed unstable behavior. The woman’s deep bond with her dog, however, led the shelter to seek a solution that would allow her to keep her pet without compromising anyone’s safety. This is where Dog Training Elite stepped in, offering a solution that went beyond simple training.

“Initially, it was about just making sure that she would have some tools to learn how to manage the dog,” Alley said.

But what started as a basic training opportunity evolved into something much more significant. The team from Dog Training Elite not only provided professional training but also made it financially accessible for the woman, ensuring that the dog could remain a part of her family. This was the beginning of an ongoing partnership.

“It’s just been a huge blessing,” Alley said. “These professionals have years of experience and a heightened sensitivity to women who have been victimized. Not only were they great with the dog, but they were so wonderful with our guests who live here at LightHouse.”

Although LightHouse can not accept dogs as pets in its shelters, Dog Training Elite has continued to give unwavering support to the women and children’s center.

“They are huge supporters of LightHouse,” Alley said. “For our fundraiser, they gave us some training that they auctioned off.”

This contribution helped raise much-needed funds to keep the shelter running. Additionally, Dog Training Elite has participated in community events like the Patriot 5K Run, raising awareness and funds for the veterans served by LightHouse.

The partnership is beneficial for both Dog Training Elite and LightHouse, as well as to the communities they serve. The pairing makes perfect sense, given the shared values between the entities. For Alley, the most obvious shared goal of both organizations is “keeping families together.”
