ecomaids, the sustainable home cleaning franchise under the umbrella of parent company Happinest Brands, is wrapping up the first half of 2021 on a high note, having already signed 18 new franchisees and showing no signs of slowing down.
When the COVID-19 pandemic created a greater need for safe and eco-friendly cleaning services last year, ecomaids continued to grow while other businesses struggled. Now, ecomaids is keeping that momentum strong as more qualified entrepreneurs recognize the value of the brand’s well-positioned offering, exceptional support infrastructure and simple business model.
“We are just now coming up on the 12 month anniversary of signing franchisees, and our growth has been incredibly steady since day one even though 2020 brought so many challenges,” said ecomaids CEO Lindsay Dellasega. “We have been signing three or four new owners every month — the demand was there right away, and we are still very much in a growth mode for 2021.”
Why Franchisees Continue To Sign On With the Brand
Dellasega started as the original ecomaids owner of the first location in Portland, Oregon over a decade ago. The brand was then acquired by Happinest Brands in 2019, which also owns home services giant Lawn Doctor and pest control franchise Mosquito Hunters. At the time, Dellasega said she knew the ecomaids brand was primed for franchising and was excited to spearhead that expansion as the new CEO. Today, Dellasega says candidates are continuing to join the brand for many of the same reasons she did in 2010, including the massive growth potential in the cleaning segment.
“The booming demand for both health and cleanliness has been prominent for years, but the pandemic really brought that to the forefront,” Dellasega said. “The fact that there is such a high demand for ecomaid’s differentiated, professional and consistent cleaning services really resonates with candidates in their local communities. The same is true for environmental care and sustainability — candidates are realizing that the demand for our fully eco-friendly and biodegradable products isn’t just a fad and has become an expectation for customers.”
The ability to enter a well-positioned industry was the primary reason Bryan from ecomaids of Greater Miami signed on with the brand last year.
“I had worked in the corporate business world, and I saw how sustainability was becoming more of a conversation across every industry, even prior to the pandemic,” said Bryan. “ecomaids really hit on that trend, and I knew it would allow me to offer an in-demand service to the community. I decided to officially join ecomaids last year because I knew the residential and commercial cleaning industry was positioned for even stronger growth coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
How the ecomaids Business Model Positions Owners for Success
Due to the aggressive demand, Sharon Cupach, Senior Director of Franchise Development for ecomaids, says existing owners have been scaling their operations at a rapid rate, bringing on bigger teams and adding more vehicles. But it isn’t just the booming home services industry positioning ecomaids owners for success — it is also the business model.
“ecomaids offers a streamlined business model that is easy to operate,” said Cupach. “The day-to-day lifestyle is simple and is primarily focused on recruiting staff, leading teams, making sure customers are happy and building a winning culture by getting involved in the community. They really have the opportunity to ‘out culture’ their competition. This all creates a very flexible work/life balance, with an executive management model that allows owners to spend more time with their families.”
The business model isn’t only simple, Cupach says, it is also efficient — ecomaids franchisees can establish a dedicated customer base from day one and generate fast ROI. ecomaids offers franchisees access to a strong customer retention business opportunity, where both residential and commercial clients sign on for a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly service. This, along with the ability to operate from home and keep overhead costs low, allows owners to scale quickly.
Additionally, ecomaids franchisees benefit from the support of the expert Happinest team, whether it be with marketing, operations, staffing, training or any other aspect of the business. The centralized sales center, for example, means franchise owners can focus on building customer relationships, while the in-house sales team focuses on answering the phones and securing the leads.
Why ecomaids Is Primed for Growth in 2021 and Beyond
With 70 units signed overall, Cupach says the ecomaids team anticipates the brand will hit over 80 units by the end of 2021.
“The cleaning space doesn’t have a lot of new franchise brands, and especially one with the innovative marketing strategy and support of Happinest,” said Cupach. “All of that together is why we continue to attract high-caliber candidates. We are becoming the fastest growing cleaning concept in the franchising industry and that is incredibly exciting, but the thing that excites me most is the quality of candidates we attract. It hasn’t been an easy year, but the fact that we continue to expand is not only a testament to our winning franchise opportunity, but also to the hardworking type of franchisees we attract.”
Looking ahead, the ecomaids team has identified several prime markets available for new development and is looking for qualified prospects to help the brand continue its upward growth trajectory for the rest of 2021 and beyond.
