For years, Tanya Hoffman worked in corporate accounting and property management, building a successful career that often kept her behind a desk and removed from the people around her. As her family grew, she began looking for work that would give her more control over her time and a greater presence in the community she called home.
Fresh Coat* Painters offered Hoffman a way to make that change without building a business entirely on her own. The franchise's established structure gave her the support to step into business ownership while focusing on the life she wanted to build, with more time for her family and the opportunity to become an active part of her community.
This August, Hoffman is launching her business from her home base in The Acreage, serving Westlake, Wellington and Royal Palm Beach in Florida. She hopes to build a company known for personal service and a genuine commitment to the community. As the business grows, Hoffman plans to partner with organizations such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and find ways to give back to the community supporting her.
1851 Franchise sat down with Hoffman to discuss why she left corporate accounting to build a business with Fresh Coat Painters that would bring her closer to her family and community. Here’s what she had to say:
1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What do you want us to know?
Tanya Hoffman: I live in The Acreage, and for a long time, my life was centered around corporate accounting and property management. While I valued that career, it ultimately kept me behind a desk and isolated from the human connections I craved. As my family grew, I realized I wanted to build a career where I could put my family first. Launching this business is my way of taking control of my time so I can be fully present for my family while also becoming part of my community. I wanted a career where I could meet my neighbors face-to-face, lend a helping hand and build relationships instead of spending my days behind a desk.
1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?
Hoffman: Before making this leap, my background was entirely in corporate accounting and property management. While I appreciated the structure, I wanted increased flexibility and a career focused on interpersonal engagement. Franchising made perfect sense because I didn't want to build a business completely alone from the ground up. Jumping into this franchise gave me the safety net of an established corporate structure and robust support systems. It allowed me to step into business ownership with confidence, knowing I have a team behind me so I can focus on supporting my family and helping our clients.
1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?
Hoffman: While I didn't have a background in franchising, what drew me to this path was the opportunity to transition out of the isolated world of corporate accounting and property management in search of greater flexibility and genuine interpersonal engagement. Now that I am in the middle of launching my business, I want people to know how essential it is to have a proven system behind you. I chose Fresh Coat Painters specifically for its strong corporate structure and support systems. The onboarding process is incredibly comprehensive, and my biggest piece of advice for anyone starting out is to work closely with the team to optimize the sequencing of your setup tasks so you can transition smoothly and efficiently.
1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?
Hoffman: I chose Fresh Coat Painters because of its incredible corporate structure and the depth of their support and onboarding systems, which made a major career transition much smoother. What excites me most, though, is the ability to use my business to make a meaningful local impact. I want this business to have a heart, which is why my growth strategy includes building strong community involvement, including planning partnerships with organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?
Hoffman: Our immediate goal is a successful launch this August, building strong brand awareness throughout Western Palm Beach County, including Westlake, Wellington and Royal Palm Beach. As we grow, my focus will always remain on service—both to my family, who is my motivation every single day, and to our community. I want to build a business that neighbors can trust to deliver professional, respectful work. By expanding our reach, we can continue to support local causes and be a helpful, reliable resource for families in our area.
1851: Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?
Hoffman: Operating right out of my home base in The Acreage keeps me right in the heart of the area we serve. I am looking forward to meeting my neighbors, working locally and proving that home services can be delivered with a high level of professionalism, respect and care.
1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?
Hoffman: Look for a brand that offers a solid corporate structure so you aren't left trying to figure it out alone. During the onboarding process, I highly recommend working with your team to optimize the sequencing of your setup tasks so you can transition smoothly, efficiently and with peace of mind.
