Famous Toastery, the breakfast, brunch, and lunch franchise with more than 25 units and counting, is increasing employee wages by as much as 15% as a way to stop other restaurant managers from poaching its staff.

That’s according to a recent article from Business Insider, citing an interview between Famous Toastery President Mike Sebazco and The Wall Street Journal.

Sebazco says it isn’t “uncommon for managers from other companies to come to Famous Toastery’s dumpster pads to tell the breakfast chain’s workers, ‘Hey, come work for me, and I’ll give you an extra $2 an hour.’” The wage hikes took place in eight Famous Toastery restaurants, and to cover the increase, Sebazco said they also raised the prices of some food menu items.

Famous Toastery is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has been franchising for about 10 years. They encourage their guests, team and franchise owners to “Be Famous” in their local community by offering fresh meals and a community atmosphere to enjoy with your neighbors, friends and family.
