Fast Casual: Kansas City Pie Five Franchisee Driving Sales with Food Truck

Food truck turns out to be a worthy investment for Pie Five’s top franchisees.

Food trucks have become a much more important part of the foodservice landscape over the past few years. According to a recent Fast Casual article, the Pie Five Pizza Co. franchisees for Kansas City, KC Pie, realized this and has opened their own food truck in addition to 12 brick-and-mortar locations. As the largest franchise in the Pie Five system, the food truck has helped the brand’s visibility in the area as well as its revenue stream.

"We really wanted to maintain that exact same product integrity that we bring to our restaurants," said Kevin Goebel, operating partner. "Everything is still rolled out by hand."

Having established franchise locations already in place has greatly benefited the food truck's success. KC Pie can organize food prep and ingredient storage at one of the brick-and-mortar locations, which many food truck businesses do not have the luxury of doing. Ingredients can be prepped at one of the restaurants ahead of time and this gives the truck the ability to offer the same pizzas as the restaurants.
