Fast Casual: Sbarro expanding fast casual concept to Japan

The brand will be open 15 Pizza Cucinova locations in Japan.

Sbarro is planning to expand internationally. According to a recent article in Fast Casual, the brand will be open 15 Pizza Cucinova locations in Japan.

Pizza Cucinova was first introduced in 2013 and has been gradually expanding since it's debut. The fast casual dining concept's Japanese locations will be opened by the Kadoya real estate company.

"Pizza is very popular in Japan, but people know it for either delivery pizza with less quality or high-end restaurant pizza as part of an Italian full course dinner. Now, with Pizza Cucinova, we add another option for pizza lovers in a fast-casual environment. Our customers will enjoy authentic, customizable pizza at a reasonable price," said Ryohei Iwatani, CEO of subsidiary R&B Brothers.

The brand will also be expanding into Argentina with plans to open 20 traditional Sbarro locations. This expansion will be completed by Desarrolladora Gastronimica S.A.
