Research firm show consumers believe turkey is a healthier option.
1851 previously reported that rising meat prices were putting a squeeze on franchises. Now, Technomic’s 2015 Center of the Plate: Poultry Consumer Trend Report shows 61 percent of diners agree turkey is a healthier option than beef and pork, according to Fast Casual. This is compared to 59 percent who said the same about chicken.
“The new Technomic Poultry Report validated much of what we are seeing in foodservice,” Senior Director of Marketing for Butterball Foodservice Richie Jenkins was quoted as saying. “Interest in turkey usage throughout the menu continues to grow as patrons seek out healthier protein alternatives and chefs use products that consumers will love to order any time of day."
