Fayetteville Resident Uses Career Experience To Take Over 360 Painting of NWA

JT Sampson is using the experience of working with thousands of business owners to grow a business of his own.

JT Sampson, a 37-year-old Fayetteville resident, has purchased and taken over 360 Painting of NWA. After years of working with thousands of  business owners and helping them with marketing strategies to grow their businesses, Sampson decided to take his experience and skills and implement them into a business of his own. As a father, he knew the importance of spending time with family and decided to become an entrepreneur to be able to grow a business and have the flexibility to spend more time with his children.

Sampson knew the home service/improvement industry was rapidly growing after COVID-19, so when the opportunity for him to take over 360 Painting of NWA presented itself, it was a no-brainer. He is excited to continue growing his business throughout the area and hopes to provide more job opportunities to the community as he expands.

1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?

Sampson: For the past nine years, I met with business owners and heard ideas and experiences that helped and, some of which that hurt their businesses. I spent years analyzing the online presence of each business in these consultations, and I recommended marketing strategies to improve their online presence and grow their business. I was able to learn from everyone's experiences, and I wanted to take what I learned and implement all of it into an established business to improve and grow it.  Franchising has a proven record and model. The home service/home improvement industry has rapidly grown through COVID-19. It’s also a flexible job. As an owner, I can work from home and be with family more, which is important to me.

1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?

Sampson: My perception was that corporate controls everything and has restrictions/guidelines. With PSB, they give you a system to follow, but they don’t force you to follow everything. They give you flexibility and freedom and are interested in your success.

1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?

Sampson: I want to continue growing and hire more people. I want to continue servicing my community. I have a team of 10-plus painters, a couple of small crews for small jobs, and am looking to hire more talented painters as I continue growing my business.

1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?

Sampson: I am 100 % self-made. I put myself through college without financial assistance from my family or any institutional or government programs. Through my own efforts, I became an 8-time President’s Club Digital Marketing Consultant and bought two established businesses, which I could grow and expand, through my own efforts and money.

1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?

Sampson: They give you access to so many resources and people who have been in the industry. You have so many sources to choose to learn from and improve your business as well. It’s refreshing compared to starting a new business on your own and having to figure everything out
