Despite reaching the top of his field, he found his corporate roles lacking in personal fulfillment.“I spent 22 years climbing the corporate ladder and when I got to the top rung, it wasn't that satisfying, and they were very demanding roles,” said Whitman. “There wasn’t a lot of reward, not just financially, but also just professionally. In some of these roles, it became just something I wasn't enjoying as much as I wanted to, and decided that I would like to do something else — working for myself.”Whitman began researching franchise opportunities and found Filta to be the standout among the hundreds of options. Whitman emphasizes the importance of building a strong, cohesive team. “You have to get work done through people, and that requires camaraderie and shared ownership,” he said.<h3>The Appeal of Filta</h3>So, why Filta? He wanted to find a business that offered a better work-life balance than the corporate world. What began as a single-territory investment quickly grew into a multi-territory operation. Whitman’s territories now cover the entire state of Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts. And looking ahead, Whitman sees even more expansion potential.&nbsp;“I want to grow and compete and expand — which I've done my entire life,” he said. “The opportunity to take on that second and third territory just seemed like the right thing to do. Would I want to go further? Absolutely. I’m very excited to expand the footprint.”<h3>Advice for Veterans Considering Franchising&nbsp;</h3>For veterans considering entrepreneurship, Whitman’s advice is to take the leap.&nbsp;“I think veterans bring that understanding of process, that discipline in their daily routine and expectations, and a competitive spirit to win,” he said. “When you combine that with a team-focused mentality, you have all the core elements needed to be successful in a Filta franchise.
