On Tuesday, Restaurant Brands International Inc, owner of Burger King and Tim Hortons, announced the acquisition of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen for $1.8 billion, with plans to introduce Popeyes to diners globally. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen was founded 45 years ago &ldquo;as a Southern-fried &lsquo;Chicken on the Run&rsquo; restaurant&rdquo; in New Orleans, bringing in fans like pop singer Beyonce. Since then, the restaurant chain has expanded to over 2,000 restaurants.
