On Tuesday, Restaurant Brands International Inc, owner of Burger King and Tim Hortons, announced the acquisition of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen for $1.8 billion, with plans to introduce Popeyes to diners globally. According to <a href="http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2017/02/21/burger-king-and-tim-hortons-owner-to-buy-popeyes-for-1-8-billion.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=fox-burger-king-and-tim-hortons-owner-to-buy-popeyes-for-18-billion-10538" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">FOX Business</a>, Popeyes shareholders will get $79 for each share they hold.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen was founded 45 years ago &ldquo;as a Southern-fried &lsquo;Chicken on the Run&rsquo; restaurant&rdquo; in New Orleans, bringing in fans like pop singer Beyonce. Since then, the restaurant chain has expanded to over 2,000 restaurants.
