FOX: Burger King and Tim Hortons Owner to Buy Popeyes for $1.8 Billion

Restaurant Brands International Inc. looks to take Popeyes global.

On Tuesday, Restaurant Brands International Inc, owner of Burger King and Tim Hortons, announced the acquisition of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen for $1.8 billion, with plans to introduce Popeyes to diners globally. According to FOX Business, Popeyes shareholders will get $79 for each share they hold.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen was founded 45 years ago “as a Southern-fried ‘Chicken on the Run’ restaurant” in New Orleans, bringing in fans like pop singer Beyonce. Since then, the restaurant chain has expanded to over 2,000 restaurants.
